Buddhist simile : Roots of the tree and our mind

Dear Friends,

Have you ever closely looked at a tree? Tree with big branches, healthy leaves, beautiful flowers, delicious fruits. Yes we all like big trees which provide us shade.

Does your focus always get in to the roots which hold the tree? Most of the time we only look at the tree the branches, leaves, flowers or fruits it bears. It is very hardly we think about the roots of the tree which provide nutrients, and held up the tree.

Nutrients which is provided by the roots to the tree, keeps it alive. Therefore dear friends roots are the most important part of the tree.

All of us are like a tree with roots. The trunk, branches, leaves, fruits are similar to our body, our words, our deeds, and our sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste and feelings. These get nourished by the mind of us (like the roots of the tree).

If the roots nourish the tree with plenty of necessary nutrients, it will be a luxuriant tree. Similar if we can well behave our mind with no craving, no anger or no delusion our words, deeds will always be meritorious. Our sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste and feelings will not lead to ignorance which is the seed for our rebirth in the samsara.

If you can only provide necessary nutrients (meritorious deeds) in to you through your mind you will end suffering and attain the great happiness of Nibbana.

…………………..May noble triple gem bless you…………………….
